Free Tool Friday – Fancy photos

Make your photos fancy with this super easy tool.

From Pinterest to Instagram to Facebook, images and pictures communicate more than words ever can. Today’s Free Tool Friday pick lets those of us who are Photoshop-impaired look like pros.

Tool: PicMonkey

About: There was a collective mourning period after Google took over, and then killed off, Picnik.com. Luckily a new player has entered the market, PicMonkey. This simple site lets you upload your photos and then put awesome touches to them which will make them shine. You can crop, rotate or change the exposure and then add fancy filters, to make your photo Instagram like. PicMonkey has finally added one of my favorite features, collages. You can do a ton on the site for free or pay a little more for some premium features.

Get it: Go to PicMonkey.com and upload & edit to your heart’s content. And if you need a smile in your day read their take on the chimp/monkey debate.

About Free Tool Friday

Do you like free tools that help you be more effective at your job? Well apparently you aren’t alone.  When we blogged on our 19 favorite free tools for non profits it became one of our most popular posts. We’re keeping it going with Free Tool Friday!  Every Friday we’ll post a new tool that we think will help you communicate better and help your nonprofit’s mission.

Some fine print:
Neither Mixtape Communications  or Zan McColloch-Lussier  get a kick back or any financial benefit from this service or tool. We feel like it is a good resource for non profits but we didn’t create it. So please check it out and make sure it is right for your organization. If we recommend a tool or resource on Free Tool Friday and you discover that it is crap, not actually free, or something is funky about it, please let us know.

Zach, I was gonna get all, ooh, I know another pic editing tool, and it’s SOOO good! But then I tried PicMonkey, and I realized that your tool was WAY better.

Still, You might like this tool if you’re new to photo editing, because it doesn’t assume you know what you want. It lets you browse through and gives you a variety of little filters and tricks. http://pixlr.com/o-matic/ I did my twitter photo effects with it. because I don’t have an iPhone, and wanted some instagrammy looks.
